Description
Sure, Fusion 360 shows center of mass coordinates, BUT have you ever wanted a construction point to show you where that point is?
Use this add in! https://github.com/MichaelAubry/Fusion360/blob/mas...
The "Add Center of Mass" Fusion 360 add in allows you to create a construction point where the center of mass is for the top level component in a fusion file. This is especially useful for balancing applications like building drones or designing jewelry. To update the COM position to reflect model changes just press the icon again. Please note this add-in is only designed to do this for the top level assembly. If you want to look at individual bodies or subcomponents, you can accomplish that by either placing them into a separate fusion document, suppressing components, or using "remove" to temporarily remove bodies you do not wish to include in the COM calculation.
Enjoy!
Installation/UninstallationInstall:
1) Download and extract CenterofMassPointAddIn.zip to C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\API\AddIns\
2) Launch Fusion 360
3) From the menu bar select Add-ins
4) From Add-Ins\My Add-Ins select "+"
6) Browse to and select C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\API\AddIns\CenterOfMassPoint.py
Uninstall:
1) Launch Fusion 360
2) From the menu bar select Add-ins
3) Right Click on centerofmasspoint add in and select "Remove"
4) Delete the add-in file from C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\API\AddIns\CenterOfMassPoint.py
Known IssuesThis script only finds the center of mass for the top assembly. If you want to find the COM for sub components or bodies be sure to either place them into a seperate fusion document, suppressing them in the current document, or use "remove" to temporarily remove bodies in the timeline that you don't wish to include in the calculations.
