Description
Playing around with a design for a Yin Yang inspired espresso cup. A pair will mate up to form the classic Yin Yang symbol. The milling requires "soft jaws" which I've created from the cup design (see attached photo). The jaws are 1"x2"x5" bar stock with mounting holes for a Kurt 6# Anglock vise. First espresso cup has been milled and tested (see photos). It looks and feels great!

Hi Jon - Yes, the aluminum transfers the heat but not to the level that's uncomfortable. And as it's single-shot size, I don't expect someone to be hanging around sipping it like that would a latte :)
Besides espresso cups, these make great salt and pepper holders. And the colors go well with the Yin Yang concept.
I'm sure there are other uses that would compliment the design.

Nice, Did that shot of espresso get the aluminum pretty hot?

Jeff - Thanks! Actually, I'm just using the adaptive operation but not leaving any material. This gives me the faceted faces which I prefer over a smooth curved surface. It gives it a gem like reflection. I'm playing with new operations for the interior which will change it's look. Maybe for the better or for the worse. Will find out once I mill.

Polished it! Boom. I like it. It looks like your tolerance is very high. like .004 in. Are you finishing it with a Clearing op or 2D Contour?
