Torque-Vector Engine
A Twelve Cylinder - Elliptical Roller-Cam Crankshaft Engine


  • There is some information about this engine design that seems to suggest it may have high levels of performance. For example: This 12 cylinder elliptical (roller-track) crankshaft engine has two cylinders firing an opposite sides of the engine (in a balanced manner) every 30 degree's of rotation of the crankshaft. The full stroke of the piston pushes upon the elliptical crankshaft for a maximum of 90 degrees of rotation. That means there are 24 piston power strokes in one revolution of the crankshaft. This design operates similar to a 2-stroke engine in how often the pistons fire, but has the efficiency of a 4-stroke, in how it uses seated valves.



  • The 12 cylinder engine units can be stacked together side by side in a parallel manner and connected to make 12, 24, 36, 48, or higher numbers of pistons/cylinders for the overall engine unit without taking up too much space.



  • It is estimated that the engine design can be built as small as 6 inches in diameter.



  • The connecting rod and swivel head assembly is estimated to experience lateral stress forces during engine operation, however, there are counteractive design features to hopefully resolve this issue such as strong connecting rods, strong roller pins, strong connecting rod pin on swivel head assembly, connecting rod roller guides, Roller-Cam Curvature Limitations, and Connecting Rod Assembly Stroke Length Limitations.



  • Note: There are parts of this engine that are not yet added to complete this design. The parts that haven't been added yet are the: an ignition system, a fully constructed cooling system, the full pathways of the intake and exhaust pipes and the included twin turbo's, the oil lubricant passages or pathways haven't been worked out yet, and some o-rings and gaskets haven't been added. Eventually these additions will be added, but right now more important design projects are at hand. I think this project will see those parts added in January 2019 where new renderings will be added.

Might consider a "premix" oiling system, similar to Shindaiwa's C4 and Stihl's new 4 stroke technology.
