SIMSOLID Grapple. Example of a large assembly design study done using Fusion 360 and SIMSOLID. Model is an 85 part assembly containing a variety of big/small and thick/thin parts. Two design configurations are considered. Both are modeled in Fusion 360 and analyzed using SIMSOLID. The new SIMSOLID add-in was used to integrate geometry and material properties between the two applications.
Two static analysis load cases were run for each design configuration. SIMSOLID does not create a FE mesh, so model setup is very fast. Total time for each analysis is under 20-seconds. This time includes computational equation generation and 3 adaptive solution passes. Total time including setup and results evaluation for all studies is under 3 minutes.
SIMSOLID is next generation, high capacity, structural FEA. It uses new computational methods which allow you to solve assemblies with hundreds to thousands of parts directly on your standard desktop computer. SIMSOLID is the perfect complement to Fusion 360 Nastran Simulation. It extends your analysis range and provides feedback in seconds to minutes.
The SIMSOLID add-in for Fusion 360 can be found in the Autodesk App Store.
