After I had already built two such ships in wood, I wanted to try it in CAD.
But I never manage to model a smooth hull with Autocad or Rhino.
My big compliment, that's absolute top-class!

Hi Don
i did manage to design a tug/ icebreaker boat
made from my wooden scale model check it out

Thanks Frank. When the model starts to get heavy, first I'll turn off the timeline. Then create new design.
By copy/pasting a part for reference into the new design I can continue modelling. When the part is finished, copy/paste it back to the heavy model.

Hi Carlos, thanks for that. I would not have thought this could be built on a CNC device. I have little knowledge on what such a thing can do. It wood be very cool :)

This is an amazing work! It wold be an experience to build this is wood milling the parts in a small CNC like mine.

Thank you Peter, it's very nice to receive comments like these. I have added a few excellent :) suggestions in the Idea Station that would allow for a much better user experience when making a model with this many parts. I would love to be able to turn off the automatic hide sketch and the automatic switching from 'new body' to 'cut' in tool dialogue boxes. For making this model, those changes would make the biggest possible difference in the whole experience.

I've commented on this model a number of times on the Forum but have to do it again. What a beautifully detailled and exacuted model! Your effort has also highlighted a few opportunities where Fusion can be improved so Thanks for that as well!

Thank you Will. This little guy is from the Revenge It's a hound with bat wings and a serpent tail. I was researching this a bit, and came across a ship called the Golden Hind (golden hound), and remembered I had build a plastic model of the Golden Hind when I was a kid, totally forgotten till I saw the name and it came back to me. It was Sir Francis Drake's ship. The Revenge was built by the same company two years later, it's a scaled up version of the Golden Hind.

That figurehead is awesome! Your design, or original to the Revenge?

Thanks Collin and James. I don't have anything in mind to how I might finalize it. Really is an exercise to learn more of the tools in Fusion. 3D sketches for the rigging is going to be something.

This is really cool, Don. What is the end goal here? The first thing that came to mind for me was a ship in a bottle, or an awesome center piece, but perhaps you have bigger better things in mind. Definitely one of my favorite images I've seen!
