Description

This lamp was a collaboration between Prof. Alex Lobos and Grad Student David Villarreal. It was created in Autodesk Fusion 360. The goal was to generative an elegant form with a simple workflow. The lamp is modeled out of three rings at different heights that are connected together by letting the software generative the geometry.

The lamp was originally fabricated at RIT with a Shopbot CNC router. Autodesk graciously created a second prototype of the lamp out of wood and aluminum at their shop Pier 9 in San Francisco. Thank you to Jeff Smith, Michael Sagan and Pacific Puzzle Works for making this happen.

This workflow was presented at the Autodesk University Conference in November 2017 in Las Vegas. If you want to check out the class and access the tutorials, go to:

-Special thanks to Mintesinot Tekle Gebre for helping out in the fabrication of the lamp.
