Description

Garud-500 is a fully 3D Print ready DIY Drone Design kit, specially developed for enthusiasts who dream to build their very first custom drone using 3D Printing. This Garud-500 can be 3D printed in commonly used PLA or ABS material and can be assembled without any hassles. The main frame board i.e. Top & Bottom Plate are designed to bear excessive forces during acrobatic flights while the arms are designed with landing gears to reduce additional connecting weight & prevent damage during landing. Garud-500 can be 3d Printed with below print specifications:

  • Layer Height: 200 - 300 Microns
  • Infill: 30% (50% for more strength)
  • Infill Pattern: Rectilinear
  • Shell Thickness: 0.8mm - 1.2mm
  • No Support required
  • Rafts Enabled
  • Temperature - 210 C PLA | 230 C ABS

Hi Carl,

Unfortunately, I do not have any video of this drone right now but I will make one soon. This flies pretty stably when operated with decent electronics and other parts. This frame without electronics weighs 500 grams which was 3d printed at 65% infill. I manage to get a flight time of 8 mins with a 2200 mAH Lipo battery.
I am not sure how it handles crashes as I never had one with it ;)

This is very impressive, especially if it can actually fly and stay aloft ;) I'd like to know more about the drone components you used yourself, total weight of the printed parts, flight time? An acquaintance made small 3D printed drones but they didn't hold up well to relatively minor crashes, too brittle.
